The Garden State Film Festival kicks off in! Asbury Park tomorrow, Thursday March 22 … four days of almost 200 screenings, promising something for everyone from mysteries and comedies, family fare and documentaries.  Asbury Park will buzz with the excitement of the GSFF’s Tenth Anniversary punctuated with parties, concerts, Q&A’s and forums, with celebrities and other noted guests including Ed Asner and a special Saturday night screening and performance by original Sugarhill Gang members Wonder Mike & Master Gee!!!

I just had a look thru the massive schedule of films and found two powerful LGBTQ themed short films I’d like to highlight for you to check out .  Both will be showing together this Saturday night, March 24th beginning at 9pm @ Synaxis - 660 Cookman Avenue. (Tickets here)

This month’s Asbury Park Gay Bowling event on Saturday March 17th at 7pm will be a St. Patty’s Day fundraiser for the “Rainbow Project”, sponsored by the Historical Society of Asbury Park.

The “Rainbow Project” is an effort to raise funds to restore the “Rainbow Room” sign salvaged from the old Albion Hotel before it was torn down. The goal is to have this old neon beauty restored and hung at the Asbury Park train station in time for the NJ (Asbury) Pride celebration this June. What a great tribute this will be to Asbury Park’s rich LGBT history! A history that has added so much to what Asbury Park is today. Every visitor to Asbury will be greeted by this glowing piece of Asbury’s legacy.

Admission will be $15 and will include (as always) shoe and ball rental, as many games as you can bowl from 7 to 10pm, a St. Patty’s Day themed all you can eat, great DJ music, door prizes (YES THEY ARE BACK!), hourly 50/50′s and best of all YOU… our great Asbury Park community!

Show your support for this great cause and “come meet old friends or make some new ones”. DJ Jack the Ripper will be spinning the best records ever & your MC & host for the evening will be our fabulous AP Gay Bowling organizer Michael Delia!
